Jones House Centennial Collection

Subject

This collection consists of six items associated with the Jones House Centennial.

The Jones House, built in 1908, is located on King Street in Boone, NC. It was originally occupied by Dr. John Walter Jones and his wife, Mattie Blackburn Jones. Dr. Jones practiced medicine in Watauga County until his death in 1925. The couple had two children, John Walter Jr. and Mazie Jean Jones Levenson. Upon the death of her mother in 1978, Mazie Levenson inherited the house. She eventually sold it to the Town of Boone in 1983. The Town of Boone continues to honor Mazie's wishes by using the house as a cultural and community center.

Additional details about the Jones House can be found on their website at: http://www.joneshouse.org/history
