Estel G. Wagner Collection

Title

Estel G. Wagner Collection

Description

Allan and Judy Wagner donated this collection, which consists of nine photographs depicting the Blue Ridge Tourist Court and surrounding buildings in the 1950s. The Blue Ridge Tourist court was built by Estel G. Wagner, and it was operated by him until its sale in 1956. Tourist courts became popular during the post WWII automobile travel surge of the 1950s. Estel G. Wagner was one of Boone’s first real estate brokers, and the Blue Ridge Tourist Court is the last physically surviving tourist court located within the Town of Boone limits.
