Description

This collection consists of several documents and a photo focusing on Nancy Miller Brown (1918-2019), a resident of Watauga County during her early years. Through her own words it documents her time working at the courthouse, the college library, and with the first Watauga County bookmobile in 1941. Also included are memorial service items for Brown.

During WWII, Brown trained in Spray, NC at a machine shop before moving to Portsmouth, VA to work in a defense plant as her contribution to the war efforts. She married Ibry Leonard Brown and had two daughters, Iris Brown and Jent Stewart, and a son, Frederick Lee Brown.
