Description

This item is a map of Watauga County, North Carolina focused on the town of Boone. The map was produced by Carolina Pharmacy in Boone, NC in July 1964. It lists the population at 3,500. The "college enrollment" likely refers to Appalachian State Teachers College, which later became Appalachian State University. Kraut Creek is shown in green running through the edge of campus past Conrad Stadium. It appears that the hospital was located near the corner of what is now River Street and Blowing Rock Road. Several dorms are noted that still exist today; East, Lovill, White, and the recently demolished Justice.
