This image shows a group of individuals standing in a small boat on a river. In the forefront, a man and a woman stand side by side. The man, identified as Paul Moretz, wears high boots and a jacket and tie. He holds a long pole that goes into the water. The woman, identified as Mabel Davis Moretz, next to the man wears a light dress, a hat, and a dark neck scarf. Behind the couple are three other women, one only partially visible. These women have been identified as Frances Coffey, Magdalena "Maggie" Moretz Greene, and Doris Coffey. The women wear long dresses and the furthest two wear hats. Across the river, trees without leaves can be seen. This location has been identified as the New River, likely in Watauga County, NC. This negative likely produced the photograph seen in item 046 of this series.
