This image shows a mountain valley, identified as Shulls Mill Valley in Watauga County, NC. Trees cover the mountain peaks but the valley itself is mostly bare. A hillside can be seen dotted with what appears to be small trees. A low building can be seen in the lower middle of the image behind what appears to be a field of crops. A house and barn can be seen at the base of the hill in the middle of the image. This has been identified as Shulls Mills Valley, looking north, with Boone Road to the right. This image shows the valley prior to the construction of the Whiting Lumber Mill. For more information about William S.
