This image shows a mountain valley. A road can be seen along the bottom of the image with a house and body of water next to it. Other houses or barns can be seen in the middle of the image. Fields with what appear to be piles of hay can be seen to the right alongside another road. A large mountain can be seen in the distance, identified as Grandfather Mountain. This image has been identified as an area in Shulls Mill, NC, overlooking the "Ottaray" house, home of William Scott Whiting. Writing along the bottom of the image reads, "W. S. Whiting's Home Shulls Mills, N.C." The image looks northwest towards Grandfather Mountain. Similar images can be seen in items 02 and 04 of this series. For more information about William S. The Shulls Mills train station of the LRR is in this picture. This must have been taken after the tracks were pulled up in 1941.
