Title

Zeb Greene House, Stony Fork, August 1940

Subject

Stony Fork, Zeb Greene, Nina Todd, 1940 Flood, Paul Weston, Landslide

Description

This image appeared in the August 22, 1940, edition of the Watauga Democrat, identifying the house as Zeb Greene's and indicating that both he and Nina Todd, a 15-year-old girl, were swept away from the porch of this home by the August 13, 1940, floodwaters. Greene's body was later found 20 miles downstream. Nina Todd had not yet been located more than a week after the flood. Unfortunately, this image has slid within its mounting, leaving a small portion obscured at bottom. This image is paired with Par-Wes-03-066 in its mounting from the scrapbook.
