Description

A color slide showing five men in western gear and on horseback riding in the Wagon Train parade in Boone, North Carolina. The Wagon Train, which traveled over multiple days from Wilkes County to Boone, began as a celebration of the 300th anniversary of the founding of North Carolina in 1963. The event would be held every summer until 1974. Burgess Furniture and Yogi's Submarine and Sandwich shop are visible. The two businesses were housed in the Hodges building (later Strand Jewelry and Beads) and the Qualls Library Building. To the extreme right part of the Qualls block can be seen (later A Piece of the Past Antiques).
