A color slide of the Daniel Boone Hotel, likely taken during the Wagon Train parade down King Street in Boone. The Wagon Train, which traveled over multiple days from Wilkes County to Boone, began as a celebration of the 300th anniversary of the founding of North Carolina in 1963. The event would be held every summer until 1974. Opening in 1925, the Daniel Boone Hotel was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, but was torn down shortly after for construction of the Daniel Boone Condominiums.
