Description

A color slide showing two mules (with a Dalmatian walking alongside) pulling a wagon during the Wagon Train parade down King Street in Boone. The Wagon Train, which traveled over multiple days from Wilkes County to Boone, began as a celebration of the 300th anniversary of the founding of North Carolina in 1963. The event would be held every summer until 1974. The storefronts of Burgess Furniture (later Strand Jewelry and Beads) and Yogi's Submarine and Sandwich Shop (later Wolfie's Deli) are visible in the background.
