Otter Creek Recreation Area, Blue Ridge Parkway, Bedford, Roads, Nature
A commercially printed slide showing the Otter Creek Recreation Area along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Authorized by the United States Congress in 1936, the Blue Ridge Parkway is a National Parkway which crosses the Blue Ridge Mountain Range from Shenandoah National Park in Virginia to Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina. The Parkway would not be fully completed until the Lynn Cove Viaduct was built around Grandfather Mountain in Watauga County in 1987. Otter Creek Recreation Area is situated at milepost 60.9, near Bedford, Virginia. An inscription printed on the back of the slide reads: "Otter Creek Recreation Area, Blue Ridge Parkway Mile 61."
