Originally authorized by Congress in 1936, Great Smoky Mountains National Park covers a large portion of the titular mountain range across the Tennessee and North Carolina state border. An inscription printed on the front of the slide reads "Great Smoky Mountains, US 441 & Sugarland Mtn." Sugarland Mountain is found within the Park, near Swannanoa, North Carolina.
