This small collection of items associated with Jessie Timmons Norris currently contains just two images showing Norris and Laura Brown Timmons posing at locations in Boone, North Carolina, in the late 1930s.

Jessie Timmons Norris was born November 12, 1922, in Hickory, NC, to Laura Brown Timmons and Lorin Timmons, who raised her in Boone. Beginning in 1939, Jessie Timmons worked for the local telephone company in Boone, eventually climbing her way up to chief operator and cementing her local reputation as the "Voice with the Smile." She eventually retired from Bell Telephone with 30 years of service with the company. She also worked for a time for the Appalachian State Teachers College and was an active member of the Boone United Methodist Church.

Jessie Timmons was married first to A. C. Warman and later to Claude E. Norris. Jessie Timmons Norris died on May 2, 2009, in Atlanta.
