Description

This image appears to show the infamous 1960 Blizzard. This image shows King Street in Boone, NC, dusted with snow. Larger piles of snow have been pushed against the sidewalks. A military truck can be seen driving towards Crest Five and Dime and Hunt's Department store with cars following behind it. Signs for Boone Trail Restaurant, Church's Store, and Parkway Hardware can be seen to the right. This is likely from when the 1960 Blizzard cut off travel in the High Country and the U.S. military was needed to bring in supplies. This slide has a processing date of March 1960.
