Description

This item is a postcard that appears to be part illustration, part photograph. The green bordered card features images of bells and a stone church. Script on the card indicates this to be an invitation to a "Silver Bells of Memory" event in Meat Camp, NC, on August 1, 1923. The black and white image on the front of the card shows a low, rocky river. Handwritten script along the top of the card appears to read, "Are you ever coming back to N.C?" The back of the card features a message addressed to Hernando Coffey in Detroit, Michigan, from an "A.L.C." The message reads: "Hello, I will drop you a card to let you know that I am still on top of the "globe." I suppose you are having a grand time out there. Well I'm glad you are. I guess I'll have to go back to the "city" soon, although I don't want to. Tell Paul "hello" for me. Hope he is having a fine time." A small image of a deer can be seen in the upper left corner with "T. P. & Co., N.Y." on a scroll below it, seemingly indicating the creators of the postcard.
