Description

This item is a black and white postcard addressed to "Miss Crathie Shell." On the front is a group of men standing on large circular machinery. According to the donor, Benjamin Franklin Thompson (1875-1960) stands atop generator stator in a hydro power station (marked with a black "X".) Crathie Shell was his niece. The postmark is Tennessee. It is possible this is the Hales Bar Dam in Guild, TN along the Tennessee River. Another postcard in item 153 of this series shows several buildings flooded. It was sent around the same time and from Tennessee that could possibly be related. The postcard referenced the Tennessee River.
