Description

This picture shows a woman giving a bouquet of flowers to one of the contestants for Homecoming Queen. This was part of a ceremony that eventually named Myra Efrid as the homecoming queen of Appalachian State Teachers College in 1955. Two other contestants are behind the woman each holding their own bouquets. Behind the contestants, the Appalachian State Teachers College marching band is standing in formations around the football field. A crowd is also visible on some bleachers in the background. On the left side of the picture, Howard's Knob is visible. This ceremony took place before the 1955 Homecoming Parade.
