Subject

Newspapers, Democrats, Clubs, Segregation, Committees, Government

Description

This item is a newspaper clipping with an article about the efforts to desegregate the North Carolina Democratic Club. The article argues that the appointment of Black North Carolinians to Senate campaign staff is a step in the right direction but not enough. The author uses strong language to denounce the segregation clause and the party which allowed it to be upheld. The top of the full newspaper was attached to this clipping as a way to preserve the date and its name. This item in on the bottom on page 20 in Rufus Edmisten's fifth scrapbook.
