Description
This item is a black and white photograph and shows a large, mostly seated, group gathered outside. This is likely at the old Watauga High School (1965-2010) located at 400 High School Drive, off of N.C. Highway 105. A stamp on the back indicates that this image was taken and developed by George Flowers. It's been reported that this is likely the International Resistance Company/TRW Corporation annual family picnic. There are people of various ages in the group, with several children in cowboy hats with toy guns, possibly because they had just visited Tweetsie Railroad. Several reports say that IRC would reward workers with Tweetsie tickets before the picnic. Our users have identified: John and Ruth Johnson at center right (John is in a dark suit and hat, with Ruth to the left of him); Margaret Gragg at the upper right balcony, wearing glasses and looking to the left. Other notable characteristics include what appears to be a catering van in the center background, and a chef in the upper right.
