This item is a black and white photograph of Dr. Claude Howard Dorgan mowing his lawn outside what is likely his home on Stadium Drive. Dr. Dorgan was a professor in the Department of Communication at Appalachian State University from 1971 until his retirement in 2000. He also served as president of the Appalachian Studies Association and the Southern States Communication Association. In this image he is wearing a Preserving Appalachia t-shirt. There appears to be small dog behind him. Dr. Dorgan's identification was made by Bettie Bond.
